Having your own espresso machine at home is one of the most wonderful things that you can ever give yourself. Everybody loves coffee and it makes one feel relaxed and very much at home. You do not have to go out just to have the best coffee around because with these espresso machines, you can have it at home. However, your espresso machines also need maintenance and care. If you want to give a longer life to your espresso machine, keeping it in good condition through maintenance is a good idea.

One thing you have to check out for in an espresso maker is the build up of scale or minerals. Lime scale can easily build up and affect the functioning of your machine. It can also affect the taste of your coffee. First thing you have to do to get rid of these lime scales is to descale your espresso machine. You have to do this about every 2 or 3 months.

First step is to turn off the machine and let it cool. You may use a descaling solution consisting of vinegar or lemon and water solution. Then pour the solution into the water reservoir of the machine. Then turn on the machine and let the solution be pumped through the nozzle to allow cleaning. Repeat this procedure about 4 to 5 times to completely get rid of the scales. It is important to keep your machines in good running condition to make sure that you will always have that good tasting coffee anytime you want.
